To ensure candle safety and the longest life for your candle,

be sure to follow these helpful tips:

  • Always trim your wick to about 1/4" before each burn, including the first burn.  We recommend a wick trimmer but scissors will work too.

  • The first burn is the most important! Be sure to let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the container, creating an even melt pool, prior to extinguishing the flame. This creates a "memory" which will help prevent tunneling of the wax and will ensure a longer burn life.

  • Burn your candle for at least two hours each time in order to fill your room with the fragrance

  • Don't burn your candle for any longer than four hours at a time. Burning for longer periods of time can cause the fragrance oil to burn out of your candle more quickly and can also create potential fire hazards.

  • Always burn candle on a level heat-resistant surface, away from drafts. Never burn between shelves or under cabinets.

  • Do not burn within reach of children or pets.

  • Never leave your burning candle unattended.

  • Do not burn near clothing, books, or anything flammable.

  • Discontinue burning your candle when 1/4" wax remains in the bottom of the candle container.

  • Cotton wicks naturally bend when lit. A bent wick may cause an uneven melt pool to form in the beginning of your burn cycle, but if allowed to burn for at least 2 - 3 hours, the bent wick should not affect the candle's performance and the melt pool will eventually even out.

  • Be sure to trim off the "mushroom" top of your wick prior to each lighting. Do not drop wick trimmings into your candle.

  • To extinguish the flame, we recommend a flame snuffer.

  • Never throw or pour water into your burning or unlit candle.

  • Burn candles at your own risk.  Blue Poppy and Pyper and Finn are not responsible to damage or injury caused by use of candles.
